Career

Jon received a Bachelor of Arts with a double major of Marine Affairs and Political Science from URI. He also earned a Master of Community Planning and a Master of Marine Affairs from URI. As Director of Planning for the Town of North Kingstown, he provides steady leadership while managing a wide range of complex projects simultaneously. He is known for team building, community outreach, organizational effectiveness and outstanding analytical and mediation skills. He secured numerous grants for open space and acquiring over 400 acres of farm and forest land resources. He led the town’s efforts for historic preservation, planning and farmlands, and facilitated efforts to pass North Kingstown’s first sewer bond, and to adopt the Post Road Corridor Plan, Affordable Housing Plan and TDR (Transfer of Development Rights) program. He has received numerous awards for Outstanding Plan Implementation and Award for Graduate School Community Planning Studio Project by the RI APA. He works with the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Advisory Board to promote North Kingstown as an ideal place to establish a business.


Community
Jon serves on numerous state committee and advisory groups to assist and direct state level plans and policies. He is the recipient of the 2012 “Grow Smart Award” from Grow Smart in Public Policy and Planning for the adoption of the Town of North Kingstown/Quonset Development Corporation (QDC) Agreement Package.

Family
Jon is married to Aimee Reiner, and they have 2 beautiful boys, Logan, 7, and Colby, 4.
