Career

Dr. Kenworthy received his Doctorate of Education from Johnson & Wales University and started his career in 1995 as a Social Studies teacher at LaSalle Academy. He was intensively involved with the students in his role as Student Council Advisor, and coached the football and softball teams. In May 1997 his teaching abilities were featured in the “Educational Leadership” publication. In 2000, Dr. Kenworthy accepted a teaching position as a Social Studies teacher at North Kingstown High School and in 2002 advanced his career by becoming the Assistant Principal at McCourt Middle School. In 2004, he was appointed Principal of North Cumberland Middle School where state assessments soared under his leadership. The RI Department of Education noticed Dr. Kenworthy’s reputation and he was placed on loan to the state as a Principal Fellow becoming a liaison for leadership initiatives and grants. Dr. Kenworthy is currently the Principal of North Kingstown High School. Under Dr. Kenworthy’s leadership, for the first time the high school moved above 90% proficiency level for reading on the 11th grade State Assessment and is currently third in the state for reading SAT scores. Furthermore, under his leadership, the College Board has recognized North Kingstown High School as an AP Honor Roll for its significant gains in participation and final scores for Advanced Placement Casework.


Family
Dr. Kenworthy is married and the proud father of two daughters, Victoria, age 9, and Tamsin, age 20 months.
