Career

Graduated from North Kingstown High School and obtained an undergraduate degree from URI. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in Political Science and an MBA from the University of Southern California at Irvine. His military service included eight years in the U.S. Marines with tours of duty in Iraq and rose to the rank of Major. Returning to RI, he set out to carry on the tradition of his family business, Caldwell & Johnson Inc. For years, this company has been regarded as the leading “green builder” in Rhode Island and amongst the leaders in the field nationally. Dave has taken the company in new directions in pursuing these traditional goals. His emphasis is on taking ideas that others only talk about and making them work and making them prove themselves economically. He is a true leader in demonstrating to others in the building profession that the concepts of affordable housing, energy conservation, and innovative construction methods are not only achievable, they can be profitable.


Community
Dave is active in community and professional organizations, such as a member of the Boards of Directors for the RI Builders Association and Housingworks RI. He is active in the RI Green Building Council. He serves on the Town of North Kingstown Economic Development Advisory Council and the RI General Assembly Veterans Advisory Council.

Family
David is married with two children.
