For many of us, a day at the beach isn’t complete without bringing home a treasure or two in our tote bags – whether it’s a coveted piece of sea glass, a shell, or even a handful of sand to showcase in a bottle. For Wendy Rodger of North Kingstown, the shoreline is where she starts her work day, foraging during low-tide, seeking oyster shells for her business Backyard Beach Decor. Rodger takes each humble vessel and works her artistry with decoupage and gold leaf paint to create a collection of goods that includes ornaments, magnets, trinket dishes, and more. Her Coastal Wedding line has become quite popular for seaside-loving couples. Larger work includes mirrors framed in oyster shells, lanterns, and wall sconces.
