Restaurant & Bar

What it is:

A riverfront eatery that opens for brunch, then reopens for dinner.

Where to find it:

Just over the state line that separates downtown Westerly and Pawcatuck, CT, on the ground floor of a building that overlooks the river.

What makes it a Rhody Gem?

This family-owned restaurant marries the concept of night owls and early birds to create a foodie space on both sides of the sleep continuum. Owners Heather and Benjamin Sherman, general manager and executive chef, respectively, designed their restaurant to match the style (and timing) of food options. “While the [bright, light-filled] dining room is popular with diners brunching during the day,” Heather says, “the speakeasy-style bar area glows during dinner hours. The meals – morning and night – “reflect the beautiful bounty of land and sea that surrounds our area,” like the Owl Omelet in the morning (loaded with veggies) and the homemade pasta with clams at night. She adds, “our menu rotates often but you can count on our polenta-crusted fish and chips special every Friday,” as well as a curated wine list that pairs with chef Benjamin’s creative menu. While the restaurant is technically just across the  border from RI, both Shermans graduated from colleges in Providence, and Heather is a native to the Ocean State who also teaches at Rhode Island College, so the Rhody pride is strong.
