Every neighborhood has that secret, hidden, cool, unusual, or hole-in-the-wall spot that locals love. We’re on the hunt for Rhody Gems! Email Marketing@HeyRhody.com to suggest yours, and we just might feature it!
What it is:
An 8,000-square-foot store filled with beautiful displays of home accents, gifts, jewelry, and apparel, including local goods and specialty brands.
Where to find it:
Drive south along South County Trail RI 112 / Route 2 until you spot a posted sign to your left that reads: 5000, Simple Pleasures. Turn into the property, and Simple Pleasures is ahead to the right. As you approach the rustic storefront, the sign will confirm that you found it.
What makes it a Rhody Gem?
Imagine HomeGoods, but instead of a big box store with fluorescent lights, you have the independently owned version with swoonable items housed in a charming building outfitted with rustic beams and warm lighting. That is the experience awaiting you at Simple Pleasures Charlestown, which shares no affiliation with Simple Pleasures Providence, though both shine as true Rhody Gems: magical small-business finds. Rick Lavoie is the store’s visual designer, and longtime customers swoon over his assemblages of goods, often by color. Think green sea glass soap and lotion holders, coastal-themed serving ware and dishtowels, and shore-inspired pillows and lampshades. Pops of red are sure to add cheer to multi-layered displays, ready to get shoppers into the holiday spirit early.
