The heart of Wickford, centered on Main and Brown Streets, is ideal for spending an afternoon strolling, shopping, or just sitting at the marina. Find fun jewelry and handmade art at Yes! Gallery (17 Brown St.), global goods at Midnight Sun (13 West Main St.) or unique handbags at Canvasworks+ (10 Main St.). Green Ink (89 Brown St.), a large store in the center of the village, has been selling unique women’s clothing and accessories since 1972. Village Faire (83 Brown St.) is an artist collaborative filled with locally made pieces. Different Drummer (7 W Main St.) brims with affordable, one-of-a-kind artsy finds. Lulabells (12 Main St.) has a gift for every occasion, from candles to jewelry.

The Captain’s Table (31 W Main St.), a more recent addition to Wickford Village, displays a curated selection of cheese, cured meats, and chocolates, as well as gifts for the home. Wickford Gourmet Factory Outlet (21 W Main St.), a home entertaining mega store, offers two floors of kitchen and tabletop goods. One-of-a-kind functional tableware can be found at Spring Pottery (14 Brown St.), which also doubles as a working studio.

There are several diverse – and delicious! – dining options in Wickford. Tavern by the Sea (16 W Main St.) has Mediterranean-inspired fare, two outdoor patios, and an outside bar. Tate’s Italian Kitchen (64 Brown St.) serves fresh Italian classics. Shayna’s Place (45 Brown St.) is a family owned cafe that serves homemade breakfast and lunch favorites, and its sister cafe Alma Juice Bar + Market (2 Main St.) specializes in cold pressed juices and smoothies. If you’d rather do the cooking at home, Gardner’s Wharf Seafood (170 Main St.) sells live lobsters and seafood locally caught that day.

If you’re looking for some R&R, find your “me” time at Ocean Essence Spa & Therapeutic Massage (14 Main St.), a wellness center that offers luxe facials, massage, and infrared sauna therapy. The Wickford Art Association (36 Beach St.) offers juried art shows like Art of the Ocean State from June 26-July 19 that showcase local talent. Of course, you can also simply stroll the streets and take in the charm of historic Wickford Village and its harbor.

 

PLAY

The Kayak Centre (70 Brown St.) is a huge facility that offers a boatload of educational services and adventurous gear for sale. In the summer, they offer daily rentals and instruction for kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, as well as guided sunset tours.
