United Way of Rhode Island's National Family Volunteer Day

Posted by jasonboulay

Every year, on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, families across the nation celebrate National Family Volunteer Day. Rhode Island families mark this day of service by addressing an issue that affects the state’s most vulnerable population: childhood literacy. Following last year’s success, United Way of Rhode Island will partner with families on Saturday, November 18, to make literacy kits for local children. This year, Roger Williams Park Zoo is also helping bring the joy of reading to young people across the state. To celebrate, volunteers will create animal themed literacy kits, and each child who participates will receive a free zoo pass.
