At The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort, it’s entirely possible to spend the morning hiking through the woods, take a turn at sporting clays, and finish the day in a robe. That contrast has always been part of the Richmond property’s appeal, where 3,500 acres leave plenty of room for both activity and recovery. Now the recovery side is getting a little more Swiss.
The Hilltop Lodge & Spa has partnered with Valmont, the luxury skincare house known for its facial and body treatments, making The Preserve one of only four Valmont spas in the United States.
The treatments join a spa setup that already encourages lingering. Guests can move between an outdoor infinity-edge pool, heated whirlpools, private sauna, cold plunge, and steam shower while looking out over the wooded property, which is a considerable change of pace from whatever may have happened earlier on the golf course, hiking trail, or off-road course.
That shift from movement to stillness is where the new partnership makes the most sense. The Preserve has built much of its identity around getting outside, with fishing, equestrian activities, sporting clays, golf, hiking, and off-road driving spread across the grounds. Valmont gives visitors another way to come down from all of that, with a menu of signature facials and body treatments that includes the L’Elixir des Glaciers Majestic Treatment and Peaks of Slimness.
A bonus? None of this requires checking into a hotel room. The Hilltop Spa welcomes the public Monday through Thursday, along with Preserve members and overnight guests, so a weekday trip to Richmond can involve little more than a reservation and a willingness to trade whatever was on the afternoon calendar for a sauna and some serious skincare.
