What it is:
A produce farm and specialty market known for their famous hand-picked sweet corn and other seasonal harvests.
Where to find it:
Located at the corner of West Beach Road and Route 1 in Charlestown, in the village of Quonochontaug.
What makes it a Rhody Gem:
Formerly a little red farm stand on Route 1 in Charlestown, Quonnie Farms expanded to a spacious post-and-beam barn market open year-round. Produce bins overflow with local produce – most grown on owners Blake Holland and Kat Jackson’s family farm. Specialty pantry items include rare, hand-selected provisions both imported and from nearby makers along with shellfish harvested daily from Quonochontaug Pond, just down the road. The market also features a scratch kitchen – which aims to be zero waste – and bakery, with freshly baked sourdough loaves leavened from wild yeasts harvested from their organic blueberry field. Cheese lovers delight in Quonnie Farms’ selection of hard-to-find specialty varieties while their overstuffed homemade sandwiches and pizzas are perfect to grab on the way to a beach picnic or on your return from a day on the water.
