Fruit smoothies for fitness fiends in East Greenwich

Healthy smoothies are front and center at Tasteful RI, a popular eatery also serving wraps, salads, juices, and bowls. “The two most popular smoothies are the Cappuccino DeVito, a blend of banana, peanut butter, cacao, and coffee, and the SolFul, which includes mango, pineapple, orange, carrot, and coconut milk,” says owner Krishan Melone. Nutritious add-ins are a must for many customers. “People are obsessed with protein powder, which you can add to any of our drinks.”

The shop is connected to Perfectly Fit, so many gym-goers in search of a healthy beverage stop in before or after their workout. Melone says acai bowls are also popular, built with “an acai base, stacked with granola, three fruits, and four extras, like nuts, seeds, or coconut.” With take-out, in-shop dining, and a seasonal outdoor space, Melone wants his creations to be part of a healthy lifestyle. “Tasteful is a place to get food that is mindfully made for the customers,” he says. “We’re here to help people along the journey while making it tasty and convenient.” East Greenwich, TastefulRI.com

Cool drinks and charming vibes at Wickford juice bar

Cold-pressed juices and refreshing smoothies are among the more popular ways to cool off this summer at Alma Juice Bar + Market in Wickford Village. “Our most popular seasonal juices right now are honeydew, cantaloupe, and honey lemonade,” says owner Matthew David. “Our Mango Lasse is also a crowd pleaser.” Other customer favorites include the house-made Ginger Turmeric Chai and Mushroom Mocha. All drinks are available hot or iced, and pre-packaged mixes are ready to take home.

“We’re noticing more and more people asking for drinks that are not too sweet,” he says. “Many of our customers are also looking for real ingredients, nothing artificial. We make our Tahitian vanilla syrup in-house and only sweeten our tea and espresso drinks lightly with honey and maple syrup.” In addition to a full line of hot and cold beverages, the Main Street storefront is known for delicious entrees and snacks, from pastries to sandwiches. “If you’re looking for clean, simple food made with care, our shop is for you.” Wickford, AlmaJuiceBar.com

It’s iced latte season at a Wakefield mainstay

Caf Bar is a popular local gathering spot on Wakefield’s Main Street known for fresh homemade food and drinks. They serve hot and iced beverages, including teas, lemonades, and smoothies, but it’s their lattes that stand out. “People love our lattes because of our espresso, which is less bitter and more vibrant,” says owner Elias Boutros. “Our most famous drink is the Rhody Latte – cold brew from Downeast Coffee Roasters in Pawtucket, double espresso, hazelnut, Autocrat coffee syrup, our house mocha, fully organic cacao, and milk.”

Smoothies, lemonades, and iced teas are also on the menu. “We make our own smoothies and juices in-house with fresh fruit,” says Boutros. “We don’t use any pre-made or frozen ingredients.” Salads and sandwiches are served for breakfast and lunch, as well as low-ABV craft cocktails, beer, and wine in the afternoon hours. “We strive for freshness and are more of a scratch coffee bar. We cater more to individual service than volume – the locals are the ones that keep us going.” Wakefield, CafBarRI.com
