For Lisa Shorr, clothing is about more than just fashion: it’s about how you present yourself to the world. “I live by my three c’s of image: consistency, congruency and credibility,” she says. “From how you present yourself nonverbally and verbally, to marketing collateral to social media posts, all should be consistent to your brand.” Lisa, certified in Advanced Image Consulting from London Image Institute, owns Shorr Success, a personal brand consulting firm. She has styled photo shoots, television shows and countless personal closets, and is a vice president of the Association of Image Consultants. “Show your authentic self,” she says. “Don’t feel the need to follow every trend.” ShorrSuccess.com.

Tell us about this outfit.
Fall 2016 runways touted bold patterns, fabulous faux furs, flowing vests, metallic tones and statement accessories. The tunic has fall’s warm colors, and the cigarette pant is neutral enough not to compete with it. It’s a great professional and slenderizing alternative to the legging. I chose a similar color wedge to continue the leg line. Monochrome is a great style trick to elongate your legs – use this tip if you’re petite or have a fuller leg. My signature style with my clients is to incorporate accessories into an outfit. I selected a multi-colored beaded necklace that draws the eye up toward the face and ties in all of the colors in the tunic along with a versatile handbag, that can either be worn as a clutch or cross body.

How do you incorporate interesting elements?
It’s a matter of bringing in patterns, fabrics, colors and accessories into your wardrobe. One of my favorite looks for fall is faux fur. The fall color palette is full of rich, confident yet calming tones. If you are not a huge fan of color, trying adding a “pop” of fall colors into your wardrobe in a layering tank, handbag, shoe or necklace.

Take this outfit from day to night for us.
For a business casual look, wear the tunic, pants and wedges. The handbag can be more casual worn as a cross body. A soft makeup will complete the look. For night, add the faux fur vest and a statement necklace, and change the shoes to a trendy heeled bootie.

How do you find a truly great fit?

Don’t get hung up on size. Too many women get hung up on the size of a garment. When trying a garment on think, “can I button it and does it fit me?” A tailor is your best friend. Most commercial clothing is constructed for a limited number of body shapes. For many women, when the we find a pant to fit our thighs, then it is often too big in the waist. If you want to make a positive impression and show your client you pay attention to detail, start with tailoring.
