The WSO brings classical and orchestral pops performances to communities across Rhode Island. As a regional volunteer symphony, the WSO seeks to deliver high-quality live music and affordable performances to diverse communities. WSO ensures accessibility and appeals to a wide-ranging audience of varied backgrounds through programming that seamlessly shifts between classical and orchestral pops programs.
In June 2024 the WSO will present a series of events across the Ocean State featuring music from the Classical and Broadway Stage supported by RI State Council on the Arts and Bank Newport. WSO will provide a FREE repeat performance at the Washington County Fairgrounds with optional day-of donations to benefit HASBRO Children’s Hospital – Arts & Enrichment Programming.
The program will include a variety of full symphony selections:
Overture to “Candide” – Bernstein
Music from “The Wreckers” – Smyth
Selections from “The Sound of Music” – Rodgers
No One is Alone from “Into the Woods” – Sondheim
Intermezzo Sinfonico from “Cavalleria Rusticana” – Mascagni
Music from “Frozen” – Anderson-Lopez and Lopez
Excerpts from “Orpheus in the Underworld” – Offenbach
