Compass Rose Sparkles in Westerly

A new jewelry shop offers a little something for everyone, from diamonds to locally made gifts

A new little jewel box has opened in Westerly, and with prices ranging from $5 to $27,000, it’s got something for everyone. Compass Rose is a jewelry and gift store with bridal and diamond selections, unique estate pieces, locally made leather, stained glass and artisanal jewelry.

Owner Tammy Melanson is a strong advocate for small businesses, having run many in her life and all with the same philosophy: kindness toward both employees and clients. “People still appreciate and deserve good service,” she says. “I may be a bit of a dinosaur, but I truly enjoy what I do.”

Whether you’re looking for a certified diamond or a funky necklace, there’s something to fit every taste – from classic pearls and cufflinks, custom engagement rings and ear cuffs, gold, silver and even recycled aluminum jewelry, to leather bags, macramé bracelets, vibrant gemstones and turquoise pendants, as well as individual charms and stoneware coasters.

You can even bring in old pieces for a redesign, choosing from myriad settings in white, yellow and rose gold as well as platinum. If you’d like to start fresh, you can let your imagination go wild and choose from an array of dazzling loose diamonds.

Tammy Melanson may think she’s old-fashioned, but great customer service never goes out of style.
