Block Island Ferry

The best-known method of traveling to the island is, of course, the Block Island Ferry. It even has its own theme song (cue steel drums) and signature cocktail (the Chai-tini). There are both a bar and snack bar on board, but take a lesson from us: no matter how much you beg and plead, the bar will not serve alcohol until the ferry leaves the dock.

There are three departure points for the ferry. Point Judith is the most common, offering both traditional (55 minutes) and high-speed (30 minutes) service. Newport and Fall River offer high-speed service only. 401-783-4613.

Getting Around
Block Island is easy to navigate without a car. Much of what you want to see and do is within an easy walk from the ferry, but if you really want to explore, your best options are taxi, bicycle and moped.
