Newport History Site Tours: Colony House

Built in 1739, this historic site was a center for Rhode Island’s colonial government. Explore its significant history, including the surrounding square, and view a Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington.

Colony House site tours available every Friday at 1pm, June 10th – August 5th.

Guests will check in at the Museum of Newport History and their group will be guided together up to the Colony House to begin the tour.

Newport History Tours is Newport’s leading tour group and has been recognized by media outlets such as Yankee Magazine for presenting outstanding tours. NHT is a program of the Newport Historical Society, a non-profit whose mission includes sharing Newport’s endlessly interesting history.
