Newport Historic Walking Tours: Creative Survival

Discover the early history of Newport’s people of color, enslaved and free. Explore the places where enslaved people lived and labored, along with locations where free African Americans built their enterprises and supported a new local industry.

$15 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 years old, $10 for NHS Members, $10 for Active Duty or Retired Military, Free for Children under 5 years old.

Purchase of a NHS Walking Tour ticket also includes complimentary admission to the Museum of Newport History as well as a 10% off discount on Museum Shop items on the day of tour.

Tours average 75 minutes. All NHS Walking Tours begin at the Museum of Newport History (127 Thames St, Newport). Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to tour to check-in your reservation or sign-up, with Museum staff.
