FABRIC 2021 - Art Installations

Posted by eakluender

FABRIC 2021 arts festival celebrates the triumph of the human spirit, through engaging and culturally rewarding multidisciplinary artistic interventions.

A large-scale sculptural bench, conceptualized by contemporary design studio and collective WSDIA (WeShouldDoItAll) from Brooklyn, NY and built by a Fall River-based skilled team led by local artist Tyler Inman at Smokestack Studios, will be installed at the Britland Park entrance to the Quequechan River Rail Trail in Fall River (accessible via Wordell Street).

At the vintage Kay Building, owned by Anthony F. Cordeiro and family, a short walk from the Quequechan River Rail Trail, the FABRIC team will unveil a new 40’ by 60’ mural to be named “Viva Fall River”. Created by Portuguese-based lettering designers Mariana Branco and Emanuel Barreira of Halfstudio, the mural will be executed by local artist Gregory Pennisten. Halfstudio’s visual language is characterized by the use of three-dimensional letters and dynamic layouts with striking messages and vibrant colors. The mural will celebrate the heritage of Fall River inhabitants of Portuguese descent. One of Fall River’s “anthems” is a song by Portuguese singer Jorge Ferreira called “Viva Fall River” and these words are now re-appropriated to imagine a new graphic language for the city, celebrating and emphasizing the multicultural community. The Kay Building is located at 4 Hartwell Street, Fall River.
