A Vegan Take on Dream Desserts

Miss Vegan creates cruelty-free versions of classic and original pastries and cakes

Posted

Plant-based eaters rejoice: There’s no goodie Miss Vegan can’t conceive in dairy-free form. Even the richest and guiltiest of pleasures are possible, minus the animal derivatives. Boston Cream Pies, cheesecakes, stuffed cookies, and even Hostess-inspired filled cupcakes make up just a sampling of what Meghan Broadfield, the miss behind Miss Vegan, can do. She takes it a step further with her own original creations, too. “Cannoli Tacos are one of the most unique and sought-after treats we make,” she says, referencing the crunchy, topping-loaded pastry that comes in many varieties, from Crisp Apple Pie to Cookies ‘n Cream dipped in white chocolate.

Come fall, getting your hands on these sweet (and cruelty-free) treats will get a little easier. While specialty cakes and made-to-order pastries can be requested online now, a new storefront and cafe in Warwick will open up availability and opportunity to experiment. Along with added desserts, Broadfield says, “We are thrilled to expand our menu to include drinks and savory items as well,” with a vegan fried chicken recipe in the works that their team is close to perfecting. Because everyone deserves to indulge a little, the bakery is also happy to accommodate dietary restrictions in custom orders. Is there anything Miss Vegan can’t do?
