Summer Bucket List

2. Get a Scoop of Locally Made Ice Cream

Because it just tastes better

Posted

When was the last time you treated yourself to an honest-to-goodness ice cream cone on a hot summer day? We’re not talking about something from your freezer or some soft serve you got while your kids feasted on sundaes. No. A napkin-wrapped, dripping with decadence ice cream cone. This is your year to do it – but do it right, with locally-made ice cream. It’s a win-win: not only are you supporting local businesses (and the local dairies, growers and suppliers they in turn support) but it just tastes better. What’s not to love?

In Wickford and North Kingstown, The Inside Scoop’s homemade treats have been racking up awards for years, including the distinction of being a Yankee magazine Editor’s Choice. With locations in Wakefield and Bonnet Shores, Brickley’s has been making fresh ice cream daily – and in 45 flavors – for almost 20 years, and has received the same honor. Nana’s Gelato, in Pier Marketplace, even does beach delivery to Narragansett Town Beach. Not only is their gelato made in-house, but their iced coffee is made with coffee ice cubes: perfect for sipping from a beach chair.

ice cream, gelato, south county, brickley's, nana's gelato, inside scoop, so rhode island
