From BBQ to beer, August is ready to send summer off in style

August 16-18: Eat, dance, and shop your way through the Greek Festival at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. There will be classic Greek cuisine, dance performances, face painting, baking demonstrations, and more.

August 17: Join Leyden Farm Vineyard & Winery for their 2nd Annual Lobster Boil, catered by McGrath Clambake. Tickets include a full lobster, RI chowder, littlenecks and steamers, and all the classic accompaniments. 

August 17: Who doesn’t love a good cocktail party and and supporting local artisans? Sip & Shop combines the two at the Mainstay Hotel and Conference Center, with 20 vendors and plenty of delicious cocktails to go around! 

August 17: With 10 hours of local music, two outdoor stages, and one great location, FloodFest is bound to please all music lovers! Music will include Rock, Blues, Folk, and Bluegrass, and there will also be food, beverages, and artisan vendors.

August 17: Head down to WaterFire as the Providence River is illuminated for another full lighting as part of the Summer of Sciences Series. This event will host #TechFire and Technology Showcases, where there will be guest speakers, job fair, and many networking opportunities. 

August 18: Grab your family (pets included) and support local food, beverage, and artisan vendors at the Schoolyard Market

August 18: Support our serving and veteran military and their families at the 3rd Annual Golf Tournament hosted by the RI Military Organization. Make sure to check out the RIMO swag, enter the 50/50 raffle, and end the day with a great ribs BBQ!

August 18: It doesn’t need to be October to celebrate local beer! Pawtucket’s Foolproof Brewing Company will host this year’s Augtoberfest, where you can enjoy a pint while listening to live brass music and digging into some finger-lickin’ good food provided by Great Northern BBQ Co. 

August 18: The RI Shriners are hosting a BBQ Cookoff for all the meat-lovers out there. Local eateries will prepare the barbecue and everyone in attendance will vote for their favorite grill master. There will also be a performance by the RI Rednecks, car show, and fun-filled kids zone! 

August 18: Take advantage of the beautiful weather and join Pinwheel Tourism for their free Welcome to Providence Tour, where you will learn about the city’s history and culture from Bradly VanDerStad, “Providence’s biggest fan.”
