Shen Yun at PPAC
For only one day this weekend, Shen Yun Performing Arts will be coming to the Providence Performing Arts Center. Shen Yun is a music and dance show that attempts to capture 5,000 years of Chinese culture, filled to the brim with great legends, myths and literary classics. Providence Children’s Film Festival
This Saturday, the Providence Children’s Film Festival is beginning its seventh annual run, hosting workshops and film screenings for people of all ages. The festival begins with a workshop at the Providence Children’s Museum, as well as a screening of the film Between the Stacks later in the day at the Providence Athenaeum. There are plenty of opportunities to get children involved in the process of filmmaking during this festival, with events all throughout the month of February. Many of the screenings are open to the public for free, though some require a ticket for admission, so head over and reserve your spot now. Saturday. $7.50-$10. 100 South Street, Providence. Lovely Art at AS220
This weekend, AS220 is hosting fine art on paper from a large group of talented Rhode Island artists. The gallery will be open 1-6pm every day this weekend. Saturday evening, AS220 is hosting a reception for the participating artists, at which guests may find wine and sweets. Night of Music at Aurora
This Friday night, three bands will be performing live at Aurora in Providence. Aurora has always showcased a variety of creative talent, and this show is no different as Math the Band the Band, Still Flyin’ and Bellerophon will be present for a night of live music and drinks. John Porch at the Comedy Connection

Student Exhibit in Westerly
This Friday, The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly (ACGOW) is hosting an opening reception for their exhibit of Connecticut College student art as well as the art of ACGOW members. The art on display is a mix of paintings, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media and even video and sound art. Dar Williams at the Greenwich Odeum

Folk singer and songwriter Dar Williams will be returning to the Greenwich Odeum with an impressive nine studio record résumé behind her. Williams’ return means a wonderful night of music reflecting her experiences in contemporary culture as well as the various projects and efforts that she immerses herself in. A few of her projects include teaching a course titled “Music Movements in a Capitalist Democracy,” working with children at summer camps and leading songwriting workshops. URI Women vs. Dayton
University of Rhode Island’s women’s basketball team will be facing off against the University of Dayton’s team this weekend at the University of Rhode Island’s Ryan Center. Rhode Island’s team has ten wins and ten losses for the season, and we can hope that this game results in a win, especially after the team lost to Fordham last week. Black and White Photography in Tiverton
