Providence Preservation Society Winter Bash
Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Providence Preservation is hosting a Winter Bash. The Winter Bash includes food from the Los Andes Restaurant, Julian’s El Rancho Grande, the Duck & Bunny, Flatbread Company Providence, Providence Coal Fired Pizza, Capital Grille, oysters provided by the Ocean State Oyster Festival and more, making this the place to be this Saturday night. There’s even an all you can drink Champagne Bar for those who purchase VIP tickets. WAY OUT EP Physical Release Show at Aurora
Friday night at Aurora, local band WAY OUT will be performing their WAY OUT EP live for the first time. The EP features four songs “Arrival,” “Cold,” “No Release” and “To The Grave.” If that isn’t enough of a reason to go see the show, WAY OUT will be performing with three other bands: Black Beach, Laika’s Orbit and Savage Blind God. Izzy Foundation Wine Tasting and Casino Night
This Saturday, the Izzy Foundation is hosting its fifth annual Feb Fest wine tasting and casino night at a new location, the ProvidenceG. Join the Izzy Foundation for wine tasting, raffles, food, cocktails and casino fun. The items in the raffle include a one week getaway trip to Mexico, and two tickets to the Izzy Gala on October 1, 2016, including a tux rental. Comedy Show with Buddy Fitzpatrick and Joe Yannetty

As part of the Newport Winter Festival, Buddy Fitzpatrick and Joe Yannetty will be performing a comedy show this Friday at the Hyatt Regency Newport Hotel and Spa. Fitzpatrick, a regular on Comedy Central with appearances on ABC and A&E, and Yennetty, one of New England’s top comics, should make for a night filled with laughter. Love, Loss & What I Wore
at the 2nd Story Theatre

Love, Loss & What I Wore is a play written by Nora and Delia Ephron based on a book of the same name by Ilene Beckerman. The play is an ensemble piece that claims to chronicle the unique and universal experiences of women and mothers who face love and insecurity. The play is a series of monologues that range from funny to serious; ruthless to rueful. This show is worth seeing, and has performances every day this weekend. 6th Annual Chicken Wing Cook-Off
As part of the Newport Winter Festival, restaurants around Newport will be competing to see which restaurant has the best chicken wings. People of all ages can come and engage in the discussion about which wings are truly the best. Restaurants will be serving all different kinds, from spicy to sweet, so you’ll have to opportunity to see which wings are right for you. Saturday. $5-$12. 1 Goat Island, Newport. More info… 

Illuminated Garden in Newport
Are you one of those people that leaves their Christmas tree up all throughout the winter? Perhaps even the whole year? Now you can take your appreciation for lights and trees to Newport for the 11th Annual Illuminated Garden at Ballard Park. Despite not having any Santa decorations, the trees of Ballard Park will be illuminated with thousands of lights to gaze upon. The park will also be filled with sculptures and displays like an oversized Lite Brite, milk jug sculptures and packing tape sculptures put together by students in local after-school programs. A little snow is expected in Newport on Friday, so perhaps you can live the dream of a white Christmas after the 60 degree weather we had on Christmas this year. Friday and Saturday. The Vagina Monologues Performance at URI
This weekend, the award-winning play The Vagina Monologues will be performed at the University of Rhode Island’s Edwards Auditorium. The play is based on V-Day founder and playwright Eve Ensler’s interviews with over 200 women, discussing sexuality, rape and abuse. The play has allowed women to expose feelings and experiences that were not normally exposed in the public eye, which makes the piece an important one to see. Proceeds from the show go to Day One, an agency in Rhode Island that specifically deals with issues regarding sexuality assault. URI Men’s Basketball Team vs. Duquesne University
This weekend, URI’s men’s basketball team, the Rhode Island Rams, will be facing off against the Duquesne University Dukes at the Ryan Center on URI’s campus. With only five games left in their season, the Rams have won 14 games and lost 11. Come out to the Ryan Center and show some love for the Rhode Island Rams. Monster Jam at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center
Monster Jam’s monster trucks return to the Dunkin Donuts Center this weekend with more trucks, more racing and more action. This Monster Jam is a points-based series that tests athletes as they face off in different competitions with different kinds of vehicles. The vehicles include Monster Jam trucks, Monster Jam Speedsters and Monster Jam ATVs. Each athlete will fight for points by engaging in races and freestyle events that will test the mettle of each contestant.
