Wilkommen to the Cabaret
This week, the Providence Performing Arts Center is hosting the award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Cabaret. The show is directed by Sam Mendes, director of American Beauty and the James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre, and co-directed by Rob Marshall, director of the films Chicago and Into the Woods, both of which are based on musicals. The two collaborators have worked together in the past to bring life to a story about love in Nazi Germany, and the Tony Award-winning show is certainly worth seeing this weekend. Vintage Clothing and Art Exhibits at The Met
At 8:00pm on Friday, The Met’s doors will be open for a night of vintage clothing, live performances and art exhibits. The Met will be showcasing the vintage clothing of Fine Malt Vintage, Ape & Bird, Gold Dust Vintage, and more. There will be live performances by musicians Juan Deuce, Chachi Carvalho and Romen Rok, as well as exclusive art exhibits from Jason Shectman, Vector-Sector, and Owen Muir. Brown University vs. Princeton University
The Brown University’s men’s basketball team, the Bears, will be facing off against Princeton University’s Tigers. The Princeton Tigers will be a tough opponent for the Bears, as Princeton has already won 11 of its 15 games thus far. RACE MATTERS!
This week, an exhibit by the name of RACE MATTERS! opened at the University of Rhode Island’s Providence campus. The exhibit, presented by the URI Feinstein Providence Campus Arts and Culture Program, features the work of Professor Bob Dilworth as well as the work of many local artists for the purpose of celebrating racial and cultural diversity. The exhibit strives to display the long history of matters of race, as well as the recent increase in acts of racism in America and other countries. In lieu of the upcoming Black History Month, it is certainly worthwhile to see this culture and history on display. Friday. Free. 80 Washington Street, Providence. More info… 

RISA’s 12th Annual Songwriters in the Round Anniversary Show
This Saturday is the Rhode Island Songwriters Association 12th Anniversary show of “Songwriters in the Round,” held at the AS220. The show will feature original music from a variety of Rhode Island artists, including Grant Maloy Smith, Ryan Fitzsimmons, and Allison Giuliano. Help celebrate the show’s anniversary this weekend by sitting in and listening to some amazing and original tunes. Saturday. $10. 115 Empire Street, Providence. More info… 

Balletboyz Invade RI
London’s Balletboyz, a modern dance troupe from the UK, will be performing in Rhode Island for the first time, for only one day. The dance troupe features an all-male line-up of ten dancers, bringing an entertaining masculine presence to a traditionally feminine form of dance. The group, founded in 2001, will be bringing their troupe to the Veterans Memorial Auditorium for only one day this weekend, so make sure you don’t miss out. Delta Generators at the Ganny
The band Delta Generators, having released their third album in 2014, will be performing at the Narragansett Café - also called the Ganny - in Jamestown. Their album Get on the Horse was named the 2014 Blues Album of the Year by the Independent Music Awards program. Owl Prowl in Charlestown
The Frosty Drew Nature Center is hosting an “Owl Prowl” this Saturday. The event is free, though registration is required and there is a suggested donation of $5 per person. Participants will learn how to identify local owl species and then will join naturalists on a walk through Ninigret Park to discover what owls reside within. Flashlights will be provided, and participants can warm up after enduring winter weather with hot chocolate. Saturday. Free. 62 Park Lane, Charlestown. More info… 

Boston Comedy Legends in Fall River
This weekend, three comedians, Ken Rogerson, Paul D’Angelo and Mike Donovan will be performing at the Narrows Center for the Arts. Paul D’Angelo and Mike Donovan received impressive critical reviews, and Ken Rogerson stands out by having been on the shows Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Show with David Letterman and Comedy Central and Showtime’s A Pair of Jokes.
