TV Shows Starring Rhode Island

Famous programs set in the smallest state

Posted

With so many unique charms and smallest-state quirks (and the fact that we pretty much kick-ass when it comes to coastal beauty), it's only natural that Rhode Island is the setting for some pretty iconic television shows.

CBS' brand new comedy The McCarthys (starring sexy NKOTB member Joey McIntyre) is set in Providence... we think. If, it seems, the main character gets his way.

Then there is medical dramedy Providence. The name pretty much speaks for itself. Over ten years have passed since the show's epic wedding finale... we wonder how different the program would be if it were set in modern day PVD?

Showtime's Brotherhood series focused on the tempestuous relationship between the Caffee brothers (wait... is their last name just the Southie pronunciation of coffee??), one who comes off as a "good boy" politician, and the other who... well, he's apparently your stereotypical PVD gangster.

The Good Wife herself starred in short lived series Canterbury's Law, which focused on a rebellious defense attorney with many a moral conundrum. Too bad you didn't stick around Juliana... but we understand. You had to get back to your bastard politician husband.

Rhode Island's rich history obviously means there are many unsettled spirits roaming around. Thankfully, the Ghost Hunters are here protecting us all from supernatural demons and the like.

And last, but definitely not least, there is Family Guy. So much magical misrepresentation wrapped up in the most epic of foul-mouthed humor. We love it so - from the fictional town of Quahog to Buddy Cianci Jr. High. Seth Macfarlane... we salute you.
