In anticipation of the big game, we taste tested some classic and re-imagined football foods
Bike Stop Cafe These jalapeño poppers were a nice break from the more traditional deep fried version that we know and love. The jalapeños were plump and juicy, baked with a blended cheese filling and wrapped in – you guessed it – bacon, for a perfect combination even the most discerning football lover will enjoy. 148 Boon St., Narragansett. 207-5528.
Layheang Meas
Kingston Pizza Nothing says “game day feast” quite like chicken wings. These Super Bowl staples were done right, deep fried in a light, flavorful, crispy breading and accompanied by homemade buffalo sauce and chunky blue cheese dressing. With just the right amount of fire to keep you coming back for more, these wings were finger-licking good. 63 Briar Ln., Kingston. 783-9130

PJ's Pub Our game-day item from PJ’s was the magnificent Greek pizza. This was pie was a salty confection topped with wilted baby spinach, Kalamata olives and fresh cheeses. It was definitely a hit with the staffers, and was quickly devoured as soon it passed our lips. Better order extra for your friends: you might need a whole one for yourself. 135 Boon St., Narragansett. 789-3200
Layheang Meas
Dan's Place A unique take on the traditional chicken finger, Dan’s offers their Twisted Buffalo Tenders. A great way to fit in your veggies when you’re carbo-loading for the big game, these breaded buffalo tenders were topped with spinach and a healthy dose of cheese. They're sure to be a crowd pleaser at your party. 880 Victory Hwy, West Greenwich. 392-3092
