T.G.I.F. You’ve sent out your last e-mail, packed up your briefcase, and strutted out of the office into the world of sweet freedom. Oh, the possibilities. Not sure what to get into this weekend? It’s OK, we’ve done the digging for you and highlighted the top ten events happening statewide.

ALL WEEKEND

Sail away on the Block Island Ferry, right on over to Block Island’s first annual Restaurant Week. Bring your friends, family and, of course, your appetite to enjoy what Block Island dining has to offer.  There will be over 25 participating restaurants providing three course prix-fixe meals and specials. Check out the menu and see what’s cookin’.

The 1960s French comedy Boeing Boeing comes to Granite Theatre this weekend. The story depicts the life of a Parisian womanizer who couldn't be happier: a flat in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing about one another. Watch as this swinging bachelor’s juggling act hits turbulence when all three fiancées fly into town at once.

Wake up and smell the roses this weekend in the City by the Sea. The Newport Flower Show will be celebrating its 18th year as America’s premier summer flower show. This year’s show, themed “Jade: Eastern Obsessions”, will take observers on an exotic tour of Far Eastern traditions and beauty. Exploring the stunning garden displays showcased over the sprawling front lawn of Rosecliff. The show kicks-off with the Opening Night Cocktail Party on Friday, June 21 at 6pm; other events will continue throughout the weekend.

FRIDAY

Nothing gets the party started like playing “Love shack” full blast over the stereo. So, get your weekend started by listening to “The World’s Greatest Party Band” live in concert. Yes, The B-52s will be performing all of their rock n’ roll classics such as “Love Shack” and “Rock Lobster” this Friday at the Newport yachting Center as part of the Sunset Music Series.

SATURDAY

The 5th edition of Womanimation! comes to town for one day only. This festival is a celebration of acclaimed animated short films created by women all over the world. From satire to drama, from documentary to the surreal – in styles from traditional 2-D to stop-motion to computer animation – the festival features something for every taste. Screenings are at The Cable Car Cinema in Providence.

The Narragansett Art Festival is calling all artists, enthusiasts and admirers to spend the day shopping and browsing through the exhibits by over 100 artists in the beautiful Veteran’s Park overlooking Narragansett Bay. This weekend is your chance to relax and enjoy the talents of many, or even snag that one of a kind masterpiece you’ve been looking for. The festival continues on Sunday.

It’s official: summer is finally here and the folks at Whiskey Republic are having a 1st Day of Summer Party. This block party includes a bike rally, pig roast, beer fest, live music, raffles and much more. All proceeds will benefit the EP Gym Project to help empower local students, teachers and revitalize health education in RI.

Explore and celebrate our state’s history by joining the festivities for 350th Anniversary of the Rhode Island Charter. There will be an open house of the State House from 10am-1pm, where you can roam the halls of this modern marvel. From 1-6pm there will also be Junior Ranger activities, Native drumming, and Ranger programs available. Then, from 4-6pm there will be a "Singing About Providence" concert featuring WS Monroe, Billy Mitchell, Indigo Bethea, Heather Rose, Jacob Haller and Ed McGuirl. 

The Big Apple Circus “LEGENDARIUM!” is an intimate big top circus, where the "World's Greatest Circus Artists" perform spectacular feats. The acts include hilarious clowns, magnificent animals, soaring aerialists, flawless jugglers, acrobats and contortionists with backbones made of rubber. See it live at Ninigret Park in Charlestown.

SUNDAY

I scream… You scream... We all scream for Ice cream! Get your fix at RI Food Fights' Incredible Ice Cream Throwdown in the parking lot of the RI Eye Institute in Wayland Square. You can expect to sample from two dozen of the best ice cream vendors in Rhode Island. Don’t worry, to subdue the potential onset of a major brain freeze, hot coffee and other snacks will be on site.
