South County Scoops

Posted

Summer is here and so is our craving for ice cream. We visited just a handful of local ice cream shops to report back on some major sweetness. Grab your spoon and dig in for a scoop (or two!) in South County.

The Inside Scoop is conveniently located off Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown. Owned by the Bucci Family, this ice cream spot feels a lot like an ice cream parlor of yesteryear. While the ambience evokes nostalgia, the offerings are anything but antiquated. Boasting over 64 flavors of ice cream to choose from, they also offer ice cream cakes, smoothies, and more. Vegans can rejoice with two vegan ice cream selections: vanilla bean with a coconut twist and chocolate peanut butter.

Serving some of the best soft serve ice cream around, Hill-Top Creamery is located in East Greenwich on Post Road. Whether you’re in the mood for an ice cream sundae, flurry, or float, Hill-Top Creamery offers them all. Feeling adventurous? Order a Kay’s Famous Torch and find out what makes it so famous. Baseball lovers can order a classic baseball cap sundae and enjoy soft or hard ice cream in a souvenir plastic hat to take home.

You can find Clementine’s on Main Street in East Greenwich. Their homemade ice cream is made on-site with flavors like oatmeal cookie, butter brickle, and peach. Try the Clementine’s sorbet for a refreshing summer treat, and be sure to order one of their waffle cones... a sure bet for summer.

Brickley’s has locations in Wakefield and Narragansett. For a sweet treat on your way to or from the beach, Brickley’s on Boston Neck Road is a must. This ice cream shop offers plenty of picnic benches for enjoying tasty flavors, like apple pie, bing cherry, malted milk ball, and sweet cream, and if ice cream isn’t your thing, they offer yogurt and sherbet as well.
