South County Nightlife: Fun and Games

Posted

Flip Side Pinball Bar
The new trend in after-dark fun around these parts isn’t actually new at all. Vintage games have been taking over bars all over the state, with two arcade bars opening in Providence in the last year. Flip Side Pinball Bar in Westerly is South County’s first gamer bar, with a rotating selection of pinball games – right now it’s a selection from the ‘90s and ‘00s, with classics like The Addams Family and Lord of the Rings. Tuesday nights are co-ed league nights, and Thursdays are the Women’s League. Both offer friendly competition and prizes, plus craft beers on draft and signature cocktails.

RI Riddle Room

Always thought you could sleuth your way out of a dastardly situation? Test your mettle at the RI Riddle Room in East Greenwich, which is the first interactive escape room in the state south of Providence. Choose from two adventures: The Murder Mystery (a crime drama) or La Cosa Nostra (a police and mafia story). What makes this place unique is that they utilize parts of Rhode Island’s history in their games, like the Ladd Center Asylum and Federal Hill.

Bo's Bar and Billiards
Show off your hustling skills at Bo’s Bar and Billiards in Warwick, which has 25 pool tables, and offers free pool on Sunday evenings. In addition to their full menu and extensive bar, Bo’s also has an arcade with air hockey and enough games to make you feel like a kid again... at least until your alarm goes off on
Monday morning.

The Charlestown Rathskeller
The Charlestown Rathskeller
is no ordinary restaurant. This little piece of Bavaria serves German-inspired pub food, including their rightly famous fries. Outside at the Rathskeller, there’s a dining patio, but there’s also volleyball courts - in the summer they host tournaments - and cornhole games, with Thursday night tournaments. They also host regular Sunday Funday festivities and live bands throughout the week.

Trivia Nights
Pub trivia is one of the most fun ways to 1) show off your smarts to your friends and 2) feel justified about all that time you spend surfing the Internet for useless knowledge. Trivia nights happen all over South County, including Wednesday nights at Mary Murphy’s in Wakefield and Thursdays at The Brazen Hen in Westerly.
