These Classical High School alumni are this year’s honorees for their post-grad accomplishments

On April 29 from 6-8pm at the Providence Marriot on Orms St., Classical High School will honor six alumni during their Distinguished Alumni Award Celebration, which offers distinction to Classical graduates making an impact in their respective fields. It's an annual highlight when these alumni get to return to old stomping grounds for this exciting annual gala. To purchase tickets please call 383-6471.

Bob Alper ('62) is an author, rabbi, and professional comedian. While at Classical, he was Editor-in-Chief of the Classical Review and its first-ever April Fool's edition. Today, he has performed as a full-time stand-up comic across the world, published three books, and penned countless sermons.

Donna Osborne ('75) recently retired after 30 years of teaching in Providence Public Schools. She recalls her time at Classical as being one of civil unrest - she was among the first larger group of African Americans to integrate the school. She went on to teach ESL, serve on numerous committees, work at the Urban League, teach a GED Program, and consult for Central High School.

COL Ronald Tammaro ('80) currently serves as the Brigade Commander for the 56th Troop Command, RIARNG, which consists of units in Aviation, Special Forces, Infantry, Engineers, Public Affairs, and the Army Band. He credits his studies at Classical for developing his skills in discipline and focus.

Dr. Mikkael Sekeres ('87) is a Professor of Medicine, Director of the Leukemia Program, and Vice Chair for Clinical Research at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute in Ohio. He has also authored over 300 scientific manuscripts and written essays for The New York Times. During his time at Classical, he honed his critical  thinking and logic skills, both of which he applies now to medicine.

Dr. Silas Pinto ('96) serves as the Co-Director of Tufts' School of Psychology
Graduate Program and as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education,
specializing in areas like social justice, diversity and inclusion, and education law. At Classical, he founded the capoeira club and was active in the performing arts. Today, he is also the co-owner/co-director of the Pangaea Arts Center.

Harry Cicma ('00) is currently a Sports Anchor on NBC News in NYC and NBC Sports, plus the CEO of Harry Cicma Productions LLC, a premiere sports and media TV production company. His love for sports blossomed at Classical, where he was #1 in the state in tennis and inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame.
