The Newport Gallery Organization will be participating in Small Business Saturday on November 25, 2017. Small Business Saturday takes place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and is meant to encourage shoppers to shop at small, local businesses. The Newport Gallery Organization is encouraging shoppers to purchase holiday gifts at local galleries in Newport, where there is a wide range of artwork available for sale.

Four participating galleries will be hosting holiday craft shows during Small Business Saturday. Spring Bull Gallery will hold its 27th annual “Les Petites Oeuvres” exhibition, where shoppers can purchase small art from a local artist. Shoppers can continue their holiday shopping at DeBlois Gallery, where they can purchase various types of artwork at the “Deck the Halls (and the Walls)” fine arts and crafts show. Jessica Hagen Fine Art will also be hosting the Annual Holiday Show, where shoppers can welcome the holiday season with jewelry, textiles, photography and more by contemporary American artists. Sheldon Fine Art will be hosting a “Home for the Holidays” exhibition, with artwork showcasing holiday artwork.

To encourage shoppers to purchase local art, Onne van der Wall Photography Gallery will be offering a 15% off discount during Small Business Saturday weekend, and Newport Scrimshander is offering free shipping on online orders over $30 with the code “SHIP17.” Ball & Claw is having a holiday sale, with complimentary gift packaging and a free ornament with a $25 purchase. Thames Glass will also be holding a sale of buy 4 items and get a 5th free, as well as a glassblowing lesson to make an ornament or paperweight all Saturday afternoon.

Exhibitions on display during Small Business Saturday include Atelier Newport’s “The View From Plato’s Man Cave,” a painting exhibition by David Barnes and Jeremy Miranda, C.L. Sherman’s work at C.L. Sherman Gallery, which includes fine jewelry mounted on 22-14K gold, and John Repoza’s photography exhibition, “Serendipity,” at Blink Gallery, where all of the profits made will be donated to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Newport. Shoppers are also encouraged to visit the Organization’s newest member, JW Reilly, where shoppers can purchase handcrafted sterling silver jewelry.

Lastly, the Bailey Art Gallery is holding a promotion during November, asking people to send in a picture or poem demonstrating what they are thankful for. It should be signed and emailed to jane@baileyfineart.com, and it will be hung in the gallery window. For more information on Newport Gallery Organization, visit http://newportgallerynight.com/.
