Experience authentic Tuscan cuisine in a warm and lively atmosphere in the heart of Federal Hill. Siena is unique among the many Italian restaurants along Atwells Avenue in that it focuses on the signature flavors of a specific region. Tuscany is known for its hearty meat dishes, rustic preparations and wood fired cooking, and Siena offers them in abundance.

Brothers Anthony and Chris Tarro were raised in Rhode Island and their family has deep roots on Federal Hill. When they opened Siena in 2005, it quickly became a hit and went on to win "Best Restaurant in Rhode Island" in RI Monthly's Readers' Poll five times (2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014). With an extensive menu and a wine list to match, Siena continues to set the standard for upscale Italian dining.

The menu boasts a broad selection of antipasti, ranging from classic Calamari Fritti (fried calamari) to Siena's signature Polpette Grande (pictured below), an extra large meatball made from sirloin, veal and pork topped with San Marzano tomato sauce and ricotta cheese. Pizzas straight from the wood fired oven include All Vodka, with spicy pink vodka sauce, chicken, fresh mozzarella, gorgonzola and eggplant; and Funghi Trifolti with sauteed wild mushrooms, cipolloni onions, goat cheese, garlic butter and olive oi. Hearty, wood grilled meat entrees include Pollo al Rosmarino, two semi-boneless chicken breasts marinated in rosemary, garlic and lemon, finished with roasted tomatoes, garlic, butter and wine; Costoletta di Vitello, a 16-oz. veal chop finished with a crimini mushroom, sherry and veal demi-glaze; and Bistecca Toscana, a 12-oz. rib eye with a Tuscan dry rub. There are also diverse pasta and seafood dishes, as well as tempting sides like Parmesan Truffle Fries.

Siena has proven so popular, in fact, that they've expanded both north and south. Be sure to visit their other two locations at 5600 Post Road in East Greenwich and 500 Putnam Pike in Smithfield for a taste of Tuscan soul food at its finest.

Can't-Miss Dish: Manzo di Giuseppe: a 14-oz. choice Black Angus sirloin finished with sea salt and grilled over hardwood charcoal, drizzled with extra fine Tuscan olive oil and lemon juice, served with roasted garlic and a side of warm gorgonzola cream sauce.
