For its second year, the festival is expanding to the Jane Pickens Theater and Newport Art Museum for a second weekend of screenings

The second annual Providence Art and Design Film Festival is returning on November 3-6 in Providence. Additionally, this year’s festival will be expanding into Newport’s Jane Pickens Theater and Newport Art Museum for screenings on November 10-13. A showcase of various disciplines within the art world, this festival takes an intimate look at makers, curators and collectors from all over the globe. The goal is to ponder over the ways in which art influences our contemporary culture.

Films this year should prove to be diverse and exciting, covering everything from photojournalists in Afghanistan (Frame by Frame) to experimental vertical village housing (The Infinite Happiness) and the life of a Hollywood storyboard artist and film researcher (Harold and Lillian: A Hollywood Love Story). The festival kicks off on Thursday, November 3 at the RISD Metcalf Auditorium with a reception at 5:30pm followed by a screening of The Happy Film, a documentary that follows graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister as he puts himself through various experiments to see if a person can have a meaningful impact on their own happiness, at 7pm. The director, Ben Nabors, will be on hand after the film for a Q&A alongside RISD Graphic Design professor and department head, John Caserta.

Providence screenings at the Cable Car Cinema and RISD Metcalf Auditorium, November 3-6
