Career

Born and raised in North Providence, Nicole Graduated North Providence High in 1991 and graduated from Rhode Island College with a B.A. in Communications in 1995. Upon accepting the role as Special Events Coordinator at South County Hospital five years ago, Nicole was faced with the challenge of revamping the hospital’s dwindling annual 5K road race which funds the Hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation & Wellness Center. Hundreds of patients from the community rely on the center for medically supervised physical rehabilitation after a cardiac or pulmonary surgery or condition. Nicole made significant improvements to the event, now known as the Celebration of Life 5K Run Walk, which is held the last Saturday in April. Nicole has been successful at increasing the net revenue from $6,000 to $15,000 in just one year. The event has reached $20,000 in net revenue and continues to grow each year. Nicole also coordinates three other annual events that support several other patient programs and services throughout the community including the hospital’s annual gala auction and two golf tournaments benefiting VNS Home Health Services and Women’s Health services. She is committed and passionate about her role in supporting South County Hospital’s mission and guiding values.

Community
Nicole also plays another supporting role partnering with her husband, Peter Manfredo Sr. of Manfredo’s Gym, to coordinate charity boxing events which have raised several thousands of dollars, which they have donated to South County Hospital and St. Andrew’s Church. Nicole volunteers on the Board of Directors at the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce, which is known for the Big Apple Circus and the Charlestown Seafood Festival, and as an auxiliary member of the Washington County Fraternal Order of Police, which helps support families of officers injured or killed in the line of duty.

Family

She and her husband have been South County residents for 15 years and have an appreciation and respect for South County living that they intend to share with their 4-month-old twin girls, Marlena and Aurelia, who Nicole says she will groom to become future community volunteers.
