The Newport String Project presents chamber music inspired by the Natural World.
In celebration of Rough Point’s “Nature Tamed” exhibition, the Newport String Project returns to the Great Hall for an evening of chamber music inspired by lush landscapes, gardens in bloom and more! This special concert will explore how composers from the 18th century to the present day, have drawn inspiration from the natural world and will delve into the tension between the “wild” and the “civilized” in their music. Project directors and violinists EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks and Ealain McMullin will be joined by guest musicians Sarah Hill (viola) and Chelsea Bernstein (cello) for a program of works including Haydn and Schumann.
The house opens at 6:30; the concert begins at 7:00. Light refreshments will be available.
Program tickets are non-refundable. $25; advance registration recommended.
