New American-Greek Diner in Wakefield

Anchor Pete’s serves diner fare on Kingstown Road

Posted

Who is Anchor Pete? A new billboard in Wakefield depicts a bearded man in a brimmed cap – with his long hair and affable grin, Pete would look at home at a Jimmy Buffett concert. This is actually a picture of the owner, Panagiotis Trikoulis, the past proprietor of Athens Diner in Providence. The new venue serves classic American diner food with some Hellenic flair, including gyros and Greek omelettes.

Anchor Pete’s has replaced the old sports bar Rhody Joe’s, and the interior is now more nautically themed: The walls are lined with fish, mermaids, and bearded mariners. Anchor Pete’s had its soft opening around Thanksgiving, and it’ll kick off the New Year with a full menu and fully stocked bar.
