Serious Cider Doughnuts

Jamestown’s Hard Pressed Cider Company has fall’s signature foods on lock

In the summer, Rhode Islanders debate who’s got the best clam cakes. Come fall, though, the conversation shifts to cider doughnuts. And really, there’s no time to waste: these autumn delicacies only stick around for a few blissful months when it’s warm enough to pick apples but cold enough to order hot cider to dunk your doughnuts in. Hurry up and get yourself to Jamestown’s Windmist Farm before Thanksgiving – that’s how long The Hard Pressed Cider Company will be pressing fresh cider and serving up piping hot cider doughnuts, the recipe for which includes their own cider and fresh apple pieces, plus a healthy coat of cinnamon sugar on the outside. Simply put, these are not just any cider doughnuts. This is only the second season for the food truck; after Thanksgiving, they’ll be heading to The Farmer’s Daughter in South Kingstown for Christmas tree season. But don’t wait – nothing tastes as good when you’re wearing a winter coat.
