In a room bursting with knit scarves, sprinkled cupcakes, floral jewelry, and dancing fairy lights, Craftopia came to life. The event, hosted by Rhody Craft, returned to Pawtucket last Sunday night and left attendees itching for the holidays.
During the fair, the walls of Hope Artiste Village were lined with craft vendors of every kind. Paul Nguyen sold exquisite photographs of New England landscapes, Eight Acorns showcased jewelry with authentic flowers and botanicals, and Stella Marie introduced patrons to the wonders of her Sweet Mango Sugar Scrub.
On the other side of the aisle, visitors waited patiently to receive sweet samples from Doves and Figs, the Massachusetts jam company. Covering their table were dozens of painted mason jars with flavors that ranged from Falling Leaves to Chocolate Fig Sunshine. One lick of the latter introduced samplers to a smooth spread of apples, figs, oranges, and Taza chocolate. Sensing the awe and indecision from those in line, the vendors were nice enough to like them taste each one.
A little further down the aisle, a curly haired baby in a red flannel vest giggled as he tried a honey stick for the first time. Vendors and patrons smiled at him cheerfully as they went by, feeling enticed to buy one themselves.
Craftopia gifts ran the gamut: a shirt reading “I Nap Periodically,” with a cartoon image of the periodic table attached. A jar of crunchy caramel sauce from Fudge Everything could be drizzled on any dessert.
For a one-dollar admission, community members got admire winter floral arrangements and savory treats. And although the displays have been packed away, you can visit every single vendor on the Rhody Craft website.
