Be Green & Help Clean Up Our Planet This April

Celebrate Earth Day by volunteering for a spring cleanup

Posted

Although you may not need an excuse to celebrate the planet that we live on, every year on April 22, Earth has a celebration. What started in 1970 with 20 million people participating in the United States has expanded to over 192 countries with over one billion people participating, making it the largest civic involvement in the world.

But let’s scale back to our little state, and to South County. Here are some Earth Day activities in your neighborhood that you can bring the family to or get your organization involved in.

Earth Day Cleanup at East Beach
Save the Bay is always on the job when it comes to our bay. It is no surprise that they are kicking things o! with a good ole fashioned beach cleanup. April 26. 9am to 12pm. Ages six and up. East Beach Road, Charlestown. www.savebay.org/calendar.

Earth Day Festival
Hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development’s Atlantic Ecology Division, come on down to their event, Earth Day 2014: Preserving Rhode Island’s Environmental Heritage.
