Finding the perfect art at Picture This

Posted

Since 1998, Picture This Framing Center and Gallery has been a go-to location for quality custom framing, but did you know that they have an extensive gallery of paintings, prints, photography and antique maps? When it is time to dress up your walls at home or the office head over and peruse the vast selection awaiting you.

Scenes of southern RI abound, from former Providence Journal photographer Richard Benjamin’s gorgeous photos to framed antique postcards of Narragansett Pier and URI. The iconic Narragansett Towers, a perennial best seller, are captured in many genres, styles and sizes suiting just about anyone’s taste.

The shop also carries architectural water view prints by popular artist Edward Gordon as well as fun views of the Fantastic Umbrella Factory in Charlestown by local painter Jim Early. To satisfy the fishing enthusiast check out the wonderfully detailed fish prints by former marine biologist Nick Mayer.

For map fans, Picture This is an absolute must visit. They boast the largest collection of RI city and town plat maps from 1870-1937 as well as maps of foreign countries from the 1700s-early 1900s. These are available unframed as well as framed. Old nautical charts make a stunning display for a seaside home.

Also available for carrying on the seaside theme are nicely done local beach signs for wall décor and some funky bottle openers that are mounted to wooden signs with locations that reflect your favorite places, including home plate at Fenway Park. While there, pick up just the perfect greeting card from the extensive collection, just the right addition to your perfect gift.
