"Cuba: Beyond the Romance" features a selection of work from DeMelim's travels in Cuba and presents impressions of Island life in a country with its' future perpetually on hold. Produced in both high contrast and continuous tone photographs, the show is a look at urban life and living conditions in Trinidad, Havana, and several other locals in Cuba. The show attempts to convey a sense of everyday life in Cuba, skipping over the romantic notions, focusing instead on the resilience and optimism of the Cuban People.

DeMelim splits his time between design and photography while also serving as Managing Director of the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts.

Running concurrently is "Rome: 1970's" by Stephen Brigidi," a solo exhibition that previews a selection of Silver Gelatin prints from Brigidi's book of the same title. "Rome: 1970's" also runs May 17-June 15. Please call or email for more information.
