Mother’s Day is coming up, time to treat mom like a queen

It’s a shame we only get one “official” day to celebrate the woman who brought us into the world. Be that as it may, it’s an opportunity to make her feel appreciated by showering her with whatever she wants. For the foodie mom, a brunch is in order. Lucky for her there are a plethora of brunch options across the state. Just don’t forget to accompany it with flowers, a card and chocolates.

T's Restaurant (locations in Cranston, East Greenwich and Narragansett) is known for brunch all year long, but they pull out all the stops on Mother's Day. Think Inside-Out Sourdough French Toast, Pulled Pork Breakfast Burritos and special mimosas for Mom. What's not to love?

Breakfast buffets can be tricky. Who wants to make those hard desicions before their first meal of the day? The other was to think of it is instead of settling on one dish you can have a smattering of everything. 1149's Seekonk location (965 Fall River Avenue, Seekonk) will feature a breakfast buffet fit for your Queen Mum. 

How do biscuits with house made strawberry jam sound? What about lemon ricotta pancakes with ricotta cream? Do you dare delve into scallop cakes topped with poached eggs and Hollandaise? If you answered yes to any of these, then brunch at Clean Plate (345 S Water Street, Providence. 621-8888) is for you. You can even end the meal with a waffle hot fudge ice cream sundae.

If you’re going for supreme opulence and atmosphere, Mother’s Day brunch at Governor Henry Lippitt House Museum (199 Hope Street, Providence. 453-0688) is a must. Presented by Delsie Catering and Events, expect an array of sweet and savory delights, a signature cocktail and freshly brewed loose leaf teas from around the world. All of this is accompanied by a jazz quartet led by James Scott Chowning.

Local 121 (121 Washington Street, Providence. 274-2121) is highlighting the tastes of spring with a special prix fixe menu from executive chef Tyler Demora. How many Mother's Day brunches will feature morel mushrooms? 

Brunch at Garde (86 Dorrence Street, Providence. 632-4799) is going to knock mom's socks off. Think Yellowtail tuna crudo topped with Asian pear, almonds green garlic and black vinegar inki-crip. Or earl grey cured salmon Benedict. Throw in signature cocktails and that's the kind of dining decadence your mom deserves. 

If brunching in an adorable colonial is more your style then head to The Duck and Bunny (312 Wickenden Street, Providence. 270-3300). They’re offering a prix fixe menu for $30. Look forward to vegan pancakes and special eggs Benedicts, to name a few. There’s also Afternoon Tea seatings at 4:30pm and 6pm. 

In the vicinity of Hope Street? Head to Kitchen Bar (771 Hope Street, Providence. 331-4100). There brunch is usually a la carte, but they’ve done something special for moms. For $20 (Kids under 12 are $10), they’ve planned a scrumptious buffet featuring everything from roast beef, bacon, home fries, pastas, salads and baked fish. Seatings are at 9:30am, 11:30am and 2pm, but they’re not in the business of turning people away.

Pot au Feu (44 Custom House Street, Providence. 441-2345) is literally jazzing up Mother's Day brunch with a live perfomance from jazz duo Jac&Co. Take in the sounds of France while enjoying a three course French brunch. Tickets are $65 per person ($45 for anyone under 21) and are sure to sell out fast.

Hotel Viking is putting out its Sunday best for a Mother’s Day brunch ($64 adults, $49 seniors, $24 children ages 6-12). Think traditional eggs Benedict, Strawberry Grand Marnier stuffed French toast with orange zest and so much more.  

Paragon (234 Thayer Street, Providence. 331-6200) is also honoring mothers with their extensive buffet ($24.99 adults, $11.99 kids 6-12, free for kids under 6). Indulge in the carving station, an omelette station, a pasta station, shrimp cocktail, various eggs benedict, waffles, yogurt and so much more.

Red Stripe (465 Angell Street, Providence. 437-6950) and Milk Money (566 S Water Street, Providence. 649-4667) are also planning on some delectable specials in addition to their regular brunch menu, check their websites for updates. Also remember that everyone wants to make their mother feel special, so do her a solid and make reservations.
