Blueprint 5 Addresses A Man's Fashionable Needs

A new men's boutique opens in East Greenwich

If you’ve shopped Main Street in East Greenwich, you already know what a treasure trove of incredible shops and restaurants make up this picturesque venue. Eclectic gift shops, standout florists, funky consignment stores, swanky spas and family-friendly eateries have been the pulse of this lively locale for years, and thanks to the recent opening of a new business, Blueprint 5, Main Street has something brand new to brag about.

Last December, Blueprint 5 Men’s Clothing store opened their doors inviting style-savvy customers to not only shop for implausible men’s fashion and accessories but to embark on a total, cutting edge experience as well.

Owner Jim Fortier chose the space at 631 Main Street carefully and creatively when he was designing the place Blueprint 5 would call home. This prime location offers up 1,200 sq. feet of a men’s clothing collection that is stylish, fresh and is sure to turn heads with the many Italian lines that are exclusive only to them.

Sales Associate Brian Hebert is attentive and eager to share the exciting lines that Fortier has so artfully chosen to launch in his new store. “We offer a classic-contemporary style. Most of our garments tell a story. There is family history woven into many of our lines, and we want our customers to feel a part of that when they get dressed – whether it’s for an important business meeting or for a casual night on the town,” he shares.

The Italian flare is easily noted with brands such as Luciano Barbera – quite possibly the most decadently wonderful men’s shirts I’ve ever seen, Moorer jackets and outerwear, Mason’s sportswear, the Zanella pant – talk about fabric and fit, and the fun and classic Mac Jean, which Hebert describes as today’s updated dad jeans, (perfect for a dad of five boys!).

The selection here is all about an update on the classics – the cuts, the fabrics, patterns and textures are reenergized and can easily be integrated into existing wardrobes. Definitely a working male’s environment, the mixture of merchandise – button downs, sports coats, leather belts and shoes, slacks, Kingsley watches, cashmere sweaters and more would appeal to young, hip professionals that want to stand out in a crowd but is equally as pleasing to the well-established career gentlemen that yearns to pull off a classic, distinguished look that’s not stodgy and stale.

It’s not just the unique choice of great men’s wear that strikes me, it’s also the boutique-like ambiance that is noticeably present as I wander through the store and continue to find accessories and items that really set Blueprint 5 apart from other clothing shops.

Jim is a menswear veteran, starting his career at Briggs Ltd. in Providence, followed by the Ralph Lauren store at Copley Place in Boston. For the last eight years, he was at Marc Allen in Providence. He’s definitely hit the mark with his goal to offer better men’s clothing in an atmosphere that’s alive and inviting. The smart, decorative touches throughout the store include relaxed seating areas, funky ottomans, trendy artwork all wrapped in rich, vibrant colors making this an intriguing, playful space for men to gather for some quality time together as they browse, shop or even to just chill out and shoot the breeze for a while. “We want our customers to feel at home at Blueprint 5, especially if they’ve never had a shopping experience like this before,” invites Brian.

Exclusive to Blueprint 5 is Rubinacci from Naples. The detail and feel of these cashmere scarves is not to be missed, and the Lotuff leather weekender bags are the perfect way to pack your special guy’s wardrobe when he’s traveling for business or pleasure. (Note – they’re spacious enough for one or two of your things, ladies!) And if you can’t resist the fresh, sexy smell of a fragrant men’s cologne then I highly recommend you visit Blueprint 5 before Valentine’s Day and buy your sweetheart a bottle of The Devil’s Blood cologne by Vk Nagrani, who also sports an awesome line of gorgeous men’s socks made from baby alpaca yarn as well as a very forgiving line of boxer shorts notably called “The Woody.”

This expert staff caters to their customers and are ready to educate, assist with sizing and selections, measure and do alterations, and will soon be introducing a made-to-measure clothing line from Samuelsohn. Once you experience Blueprint 5 it will change how you shop for men’s clothing!
