South County Museum is offering introductory blacksmithing for adults every Wednesday evening during August from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Museum in Narragansett, RI. All tools and materials are provided. The fee is $25 per session or $20 for SCM members. Participants must be 18 years of age. Space is limited, so advance reservations are required.
The first session in each workshop is designed to be introductory in nature, offering a hands-on opportunity to learn the basics this once essential craft. Participants are encouraged to return in subsequent weeks to pursue a more sophisticated personal project. For safety reasons, no sandals or open toe shoes are permitted and each participant must wear long pants. Payment may be made at the start of each session.
The South County Museum is a seven building campus, with a living history farm, located on the historic Canonchet Farm at 115 Strathmore Street, Narragansett, RI. During July and August, the Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10-4. For more information and the Calendar of Events for this season, call 401.783.5400 or visit www.southcountymuseum.org.
