Big Style From Small Businesses

Posted

Meaning. That is what Cheryl Fonseca, owner of the Pink Parasol Boutique in Wickford, looks for when deciding what to carry in her store. Almost everything she stocks is made in the US by small, woman-owned businesses, with numerous finds by local artisans. Among them: the one-of-a-kind designs of Rhode Islander Michael Murrillo, who creates shell decor, scarves, and hand-sewn embellished handbags.

The RI shoreline is alive and well at the boutique, with state-shaped sea glass necklaces and T-shirts printed in North Kingstown. A good selection of children’s jewelry awaits your little ones. For fun, check out the funky socks, collapsible vases, and dog bowls, as well as beaded bracelets from Little Word Project and lampshades for your wine glasses, complete with lights.

There are wonderful retro choices too, including embroidered hankies and countdown candles (lined with numbers, you burn one each birthday until 21). An ever-changing assortment awaits you at this charming little store, so stop in often.
