The Savory Grape Offers Up More Than Booze and Brews

The Savory Grape in East Greenwich has made a name for itself in the Rhode Island wine community. With its fine reputation of great wine tastings and classes, a knowledgeable staff and a wide range of wines, The Savory Grape has helped Rhode Islanders expand their knowledge of wine. Now, it is hoping to reach out to another population - the craft beer loving folks of Rhode Island. The shop has recently launched a Craft Beer Club.

The Craft Beer Club was the idea of store employee, Samantha DiSegna. She says the club was created to give “beer aficionados limited and unique craft beer selections as a way to get them to explore and encourage them to try new beers, moving them out of their comfort zone.” Each month, Samantha chooses unique (many are limited production beers) and interesting beers to tantalize her club members. The chosen beers are chosen specifically to be unique to The Savory Grape (most are not found anywhere else in Rhode Island). Beers come from around the country and from around the globe. They include a variety of styles (from light and crisp to malty and heavy). A recent month’s sampler included a Mikkeller/Prairie IPA from Oklahoma, a Konrad 14 Lager from the Czech Republic and a De Proef Brouwerij Brewery 100% organic Triple Blond from Belgium. The beers come with tasting and brewery notes, food pairings and even a recipe to pair with one of the beers.

The Beer Club offers levels of beer fun. Level 1 is for “The Beer Nut” and includes three beers a month for $25.99 plus tax. Level 2 is for “The Beer Whiz” and includes six beers a month for $55.99 plus tax. Delivery is free within the 02818 and 02886 zip codes. Beers can also be shipped to anywhere in Rhode Island (with fees starting at $5.95) or can be picked up at the store. The beers arrive each month between the 10th and the 15th of each month.
