Cost: Free

Runs April-June 2020

Looking for a meaningful way to spend your free time and enrich your community? Join us for a (mostly) virtual training this spring to become a Docent for the John Brown House Museum.

The John Brown House Museum is a local history museum in Providence looking for volunteers this spring. Our Volunteers help to fill a variety of roles and functions that are essential to the daily operations and success of the museum. Volunteering for the John Brown House Museum may include giving tours, facilitating dynamic discussions with groups, helping visitors navigate our space, and/or assisting with special events and programs. All interested volunteers should know that we discuss difficult topics in history here such as slavery and it's lasting impact. We fully train and provide you the tools to engage with the public in this capacity. This season, we will utilize online learning and modules delivered through Google Drive to cover most of our required training. Interested people need to have a working email address, access to a computer, and a passion for public history and education.
