Fun Fashion for Kids

Styled by Denise Navoian, with clothing by Polka Dot Panda

Denise Navoian opened her chic kids clothing store Polka Dot Panda in Narragansett’s Pier Marketplace in 2008. In addition to adorable clothing for girls and boys, Polka Dot Panda offers personalized, embroidered apparel and baby gifts. “Classic looks are always in fashion and can be paired with trendy looks,” Denise says. The most important thing, though? Asking kids what they like, she says, making sure “to find out what colors and styles are their favorites.”

How can you get more than one season out of kids clothes?
The Tea Collection red, short sleeved Kira Kira Wrap Dress can transition from summer to fall with matching long-sleeved tees and leggings. A variety of soft, warm cardigan options are available as well. The Tea Collection outfits for boys and girls were inspired by the designer’s travels to Japan, so many of our pieces this fall have an Asian flair.

The dressier Mustard Pie collection is an assortment of long and short sleeved styles for mild, early fall temperatures that can be layered underneath adorable matching jackets.

What fall trends are you loving this season?
Bright pops of color, floral patterns and animal graphic designs. All of our shoes, accessories and outerwear are hand picked to match each of our fall outfits. We recommend that customers first choose their favorite outfit, and then we help them to match it up with shoes, necklaces, hair accessories and outerwear. Many of our basic shoe styles, like navy blue Mary Janes, for example, are a classic look to coordinate with almost any outfit.

When you’re picking out clothes for kids, what’s the most important thing to keep in mind?
Comfort is key. When helping customers complete their children’s wardrobes, we start with essential items like soft denim knit pants for boys and jeggings for girls, and pair with essential tees. Here at Polka Dot Panda, you can find comfortable, stylish and unique clothing at reasonable prices. Boutique shopping here doesn’t have to be expensive, yet your children are sure to have a stylish and unique wardrobe.
