Fashion 101

Meet URI's stylish dream team

Posted

There’s much more to the fashion world than catwalking. The Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design Department (TMD) at the University of Rhode Island represents the breadth of it, with internationally known faculty specializing in diverse areas that go way beyond a room filled with mannequins and leggy models. This past spring, the program graduated 95 TMD majors and 10 Textile Marketing majors, many of whom had taken advantage of the exciting internship program that
sends students to places such as Giorgio Armani or Gucci in New York City or the study abroad option with a focus on a “fashion” language (Italian or French, of course). Some students intern at the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, MA as well. The faculty in this program work overtime, not only to expand their own research but to catapult their students to international success. Meet four of the department’s key players.
