Celebrate Independence Day in RI

Whether you seek live music, great food or a fun parade, Rhode Island has it all. From the historical to the quirky, this state will keep you busy with events far beyond fireworks for your Independence Day celebrations. 

Block Island
The annual Block Island July 4 Parade kicks off at 11am from Veterans Park. Find your spot along the route to join in the nostalgia of this year’s theme: “Block Island Memories.” After the parade ends there will be a steak fry at the Fire Barn on Beach Ave.

Bristol
Bristol will be hosting its 232nd Fourth of July Celebration. The Concert Series ends July 3 with Trinity and Sixwire, and the last days of the carnival are on July 3 and 4. End your Monday night with a fireworks show on Bristol Harbor and begin your Tuesday with the 232nd patriotic exercises at 8:30am at Colt Memorial School, followed by the parade at 10:30am.

Herreshoff Marine Museum will be hosting a Party on the Waterfront July 3 beginning at 5:30pm. There will be cocktails, Blount Chowder and catering by Russell Morin. Enjoy dancing on the waterfront to live music from 6 Digg-It Band from 8-11pm and a fireworks view from the docks. On July 4 they will be hosting a parade viewing with breakfast and lunch included, starting at 8am.

Linden Place Mansion will be hosting its Annual Fourth of July Parade Picnic on July 4. From 8am-2pm come enjoy bleacher-style seating, tables and chairs in a shady parade-viewing spot. Tickets include breakfast and lunch.

Cranston
Cranston will once again be hosting the Fourth of July Drum and Bugle Corps Competition on July 3 at 6pm at Cranston Stebbins Stadium. Come celebrate our country with top drum and bugle corps from across the nation.

Cumberland
Cumberland begins its July 4 celebration with a road race at 9am starting at North Cumberland Fire Station. The annual parade begins at 11am, this year’s theme is “Stars and Stripes Forever” and is followed by a Concert on the Green at 1pm outside Arnold Mills United Methodist Church.

Glocester
The annual Ancients and Horribles Parade starts at 4pm on July 4 and guarantees to delight with its none-too-serious take on local and national politics.

Narragansett
The Beach Party on July 4 at the Town Beach begins mid-day with sandcastle building with Sandtasia. Come listen to live music by Brass Force from 5-7pm on the deck at the North Beach Clubhouse followed by fireworks at dusk.

The Fourth of July Chicken Hatch at the South County Museum promises a chance to meet the newest members of the Rhode Island Red Heritage Flock.

Newport
Celebrate Independence Day with the Newport Historical Society starting at 10am at the Colony House and Washington Square, with patriotic activities including a reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Hotel Viking provides a unique view of the fireworks at Fort Adams on July 4 over a dinner at their rooftop bar and kitchen. Enjoy a feast of steamed lobster and clams, slow-roasted pork shoulder, and a full raw bar. The event is from 5-10pm and features live music from 6-9pm.

Get in the spirit with Newport’s Road to Independence Tour, going back in time to learn about Newport’s role in the American Revolution. Tours are Mondays 10:30-11:30am. 

Providence
India Point Park’s Annual Independence Day Celebration starts at 4:30pm. Don’t miss the first annual bike parade starting at 6pm from Providence City Hall and ending at India Point Park where you can join the festivities including a magic show, puppeteers, storytelling and food vendors. Live music on the main stage starts at 8pm with fireworks to follow.

On Tuesday, July 4, experience the fireworks from a Providence River Boat Cruise. Boats depart from the dock at Hot Club at 8:15. Enjoy a short cruise around Providence waterways to India Point Park where your boat will be anchored for a unique and up-close view of the fireworks.

South Kingstown
The Fourth of July Celebration at Old Mountain Field begins with live music from Take it to the Bridge at 6pm. Come enjoy food concessions, kids activities and fireworks to end the night.

Westerley
Celebrate American cuisine at the Independence Day Clambake on Saturday, July 1 at Weekapaug Inn from 6:30-10:30pm. The event features patriotic fare including steamed lobster, fresh seafood and s’mores under the stars.

To celebrate America in style, get your tickets to the Independence Day Beach Ball July 2 at Ocean House. Enjoy live music, dancing, fresh seafood and fireworks by the ocean.
